Artist Statement
Local bars tend to each have their own unique vibe, and Sundown Tavern in Ruston, Louisiana is no exception. The “regulars” range from twenty-something year old college students to retired professors and blue-collar workers who all together create a collage of an interesting kind of place. This book focuses on the colorful personalities and oddities that can be found interacting in this community of people. The color images reveal an intense uniqueness that is difficult to find in many other cities. Friday and Saturday nights are decorated with a kaleidoscope of people ready to have a good time. Rural Louisiana has given way to this small town bar. Sundown has become a home and common ground for those people that are considered to be “different” among the average society.
